How Does Brake Fluid Work?

You might have an idea of how components of your vehicle work. You might even know how to conduct routine fixes. One of the bigger mysteries is how the braking system of your vehicle works.

When you press your brake pedal to slow the vehicle, the first thing that is engaged is a piston. This piston increases the pressure to the brake lines. The brake lines allow the brake fluid to push against the rotors. When the rotors have enough pressure against them, they squeeze the brake pads which are lowered onto the tire. This leads to the slowing of your vehicle. Brake fluid that isn't up to par will cause this process to be slowed.
